Application Deadline: September 4, 2012

2012 American Society for Cell Biology Annual Meeting December 15-19, 2012 San Francisco, California

Biotech Postdoctoral Travel Awards are available to postdocs at any stage of training and from any country to cover expenses for transportation (including air fare, train fare, personal or rental car, taxi fare, etc.). The maximum award is US $300. The ASCB Program Committee will select the award winners on the basis of scientific merit, professional development, and financial need. These awards are specifically intended to enable postdocs in the biotech industry to "make the connection" between cell biology and medicine at the 2012 ASCB Annual Meeting.

Steps To Apply:

Submit Abstract
To qualify for consideration for a Biotech Postdoctoral Travel Award, abstracts must be submitted to the Annual Meeting through the regular abstract submission process. Applicants must be the first author on a submitted abstract. Once you successfully complete your abstract submission, you will receive a confirmation email with your abstract control number. The number will need to be entered on this award application.

Complete and Submit The Application

Provide your contact information, answer questions about yourself, and enter your abstract control number (see Step 1). Each applicant must complete the application separately.

Send Letter of Recommendation

A letter of recommendation from the principal investigator/advisor must be submitted with this travel award application. Address the letter of support to "Biotech Postdoctoral Travel Award Review Committee." The letter should address 1) the scientific merit of the postdoc's work, 2) how the meeting attendance will benefit the postdoc's professional development, and 3) the postdoc's need for financial assistance to attend the meeting.

How To Send Your Letter of Recommendation:
Your advisor will be sent a URL through which he/she can directly upload a letter of recommendation. Do not upload more than one letter. If necessary, send an updated letter to Stella Bermejo.

Deadline and Disposition Notification:
The application deadline is September 4, 2012. A completed application includes the application form, abstract control number, and letter of recommendation. Applicants will be notified via email in mid-October regarding the status of their application.

If you have questions, please contact Stella Bermejo, at 301-347-9302.
