Call for Nominations: North American Menopause Society Awards & Scholarships
The North American Menopause Society (NAMS) is pleased to announce the availability of 45 awards this year. Recipients will be acknowledged during the NAMS 23rd Annual Meeting in Orlando, FL, on October 3-6, 2012.
Please review the available awards and eligibility criteria below then complete the online Nomination Form before the deadline of June 4, 2012.
Winners will be notified by July 12, 2012.
NAMS Recognition Awards
1. NAMS/Thomas Clarkson Outstanding Clinical & Basic Science Research Award.
This award will recognize a NAMS member’s outstanding menopause-related clinical or basic science research.
2. NAMS/Leon Speroff Outstanding Educator Award.
This award will recognize a NAMS member’s excellence in menopause-related education of clinicians or the general public.
3. NAMS/Ann Voda Community Service Award.
This award will recognize a healthcare provider within the NAMS membership who has demonstrated outstanding community service.
4. NAMS Certified Menopause Practitioner (NCMP) of the Year.
This award will recognize one current NAMS Certified Menopause Practitioner (NCMP) for outstanding work with his/her patients. Both members and nonmembers of the Society are eligible for consideration.
5. NAMS Media Award.
This award will recognize a media professional whose body of work, through any media outlet (ie, print, television, radio, Internet) has served to expand the knowledge and understanding of menopause.
These recognition awards provide the winners with the following:
Complimentary registration to the 2012 NAMS Annual Meeting
Commemorative display plaque
Invitation to a private reception with the NAMS Board of Trustees and members of the 2012 Awards Committee on Thursday, October 4, from 7:00 PM—8:00 PM
Medical Residents & Fellows Excellence Awards
This program, supported by grant funding from Teva Women’s Health, will recognize 10 medical residents and fellows in obstetrics and gynecology or primary care who have demonstrated excellence in their work to date in the field of menopause. Only nonmembers of the Society are eligible for consideration and recipients must commit to attending the NAMS 2012 Annual Meeting, including a Recognition Luncheon.
These excellence awards provide the winners will the following:
Reimbursement of travel expenses up to $1,800 to attend the 2012 NAMS Annual Meeting. (NAMS will waive the registration fee)
Commemorative display plaque
Complimentary half-year NAMS membership (July through December 2012)
Invitation to the a Recognition Luncheon with representatives of the Society, the person who nominated them, and grantor representatives on Wednesday, October 3, from 12:30 PM—2:00 PM
Medical Residents & Fellows Reporter Scholarships
This program, supported by a grant from Pfizer, will provide 30 medical residents and fellows from an accredited program in any specialty involving women’s health to menopause-specific, in-depth clinical instruction. These recipients are then asked to prepare a presentation on a topic of their choice from the content of the meeting to share with colleagues in their residency program when they return home. Only nonmembers of the Society are eligible. A signed commitment to attend the entire meeting and two special educational sessions are required.
Recipients of these reporter scholarships will receive:
Travel and lodging reimbursement of up to $1,800 to attend the 2012 NAMS Annual Meeting (NAMS will waive the registration fee)
A copy of NAMS professional textbook, Menopause Practice: A Clinician’s Guide (4th ed.)
A copy of NAMS leading consumer resource, Menopause Guidebook
Special educational sessions on Wednesday, October 3 from 8:30 PM—10:00 PM and Saturday, October 6 from 1:00 PM—2:00 PM
A certificate of participation at the conclusion of the program
