Call for Nominations: Gabriel G. Rudney Award for an Outstanding Dissertation in Nonprofit and Voluntary Action Research

ARNOVA (the Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action) invites nominations for the Gabriel G. Rudney Award for an Outstanding Dissertation in Nonprofit and Voluntary Action Research. The deadline for nominations for this year’s award is May 15, 2012 — This prize is awarded annually for a Ph.D. dissertation completed and/or defended in the three years prior the award (2009, 2010, and 2011). Dissertations that contribute to the advancement of theory, conceptualization, research, or practice closely related to nonprofit organizations or voluntary action are eligible. These dissertations can address a wide variety of topics within this realm. Cash prize: $1,000.

Submitting: Either the author’s advisor or the author should collect and submit as a single package the documents needed for nominations. These include: The advisor’s letter explaining the nature of the work and how well it meets criteria for excellence in its field, and an extended abstract (approximately five pages). Nominees should be prepared to send a copy of the full dissertation upon request.
