American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry Young Investigator Research Award
One AAAP Young Investigator Award (or Research Award) is available annually and will be presented at the 21st Annual Meeting and Symposium on December 2-5, 2010 at the Boca Raton Resort & Club in Boca Raton, Florida. The Young Investigator Award will be presented based on the quality of original addiction research conducted by the applicant and the demonstrated commitment of the applicant to the field of addiction psychiatry. We encourage women and minorities to submit their work. Travel and lodging costs will be provided, and the meeting registration fee will be waived. Award-winning research will be presented during the Paper Session on Sunday, December 5, 2010. Attending and presenting at the 21st Annual Meeting and Symposium in Boca Raton, FL is mandatory.

Qualifications
The applicant must be one of the following and have completed the bulk of his or her research during this time:
* a general psychiatry resident
* a PGY-5 or higher addiction psychiatry resident (fellow) in an ACGME-accredited addiction psychiatry subspecialty program
* an early career psychiatrist who has either completed a psychiatry residency or completed an ACGME-accredited addiction psychiatry residency (fellowship) within 12 months
* Applications will not be accepted from undergraduate students (i.e., Bachelors or pregraduate students)
Please submit the following materials (preferably by email):
1. A statement of career goals
2. A description of the context of the research, e.g., rationale for selecting the topic, role of mentors
3. The research manuscript in publishable form (abstract and complete paper)
4. A complete Curriculum Vitae
