Research in Otolaryngology & Allergy Development Scholarship Program
The Research in Otolaryngology & Allergy Development (ROAD) Scholarship Program is a prestigious educational endeavor developed by the AAOA to recognize the academic, clinical, and professional excellence of medical residents and young investigators throughout the country who are being trained in otolaryngology and allergy. This program provides an opportunity for these scholars with an interest in otolaryngic allergy to submit a proposal describing an original research idea or case study.
The AAOA–ROAD Scholarship Committee, headed by Jim Stankiewicz, MD, reviews grant proposals based on a set of criteria that includes scientific merit and feasibility. The committee will award up to 10 applicants with the highest grant scores individual scholarships of up to $5,000, made payable to their affiliated institutions, to execute their research. The scholarship recipients will present their findings during the AAOA annual meeting to an audience of their peers, mentors, and other experts in otolaryngology and allergy and will submit their research to Allergy & Rhinology, the official AAOA journal.
