American Nephrology Nurses' Association Barbara F. Prowant Nursing Research Grant

Grant Deadlines:

Final Proposal Submission:  November 15, 2010

PURPOSE

The purpose of this grant is to provide funding for research projects, thesis, and dissertations for ANNA full members, who are certified by the Nephrology Nursing Certification Commission (NNCC) and who are in graduate school.

PROJECT TYPES ELIGIBLE FOR FUNDING

Research: Funding for pilot studies and partial funding for research projects, thesis, or dissertations.

SELECTION OF RECIPIENT

1. The Research Committee will review and score the proposals for scientific merit and feasibility based on the criteria stated below.

2. ANNA will award funding based on scientific merit and availability of funds.

AWARD AMOUNT
ANNA grants up to $5,000 per proposal will be awarded.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
1. Full Membership in ANNA.
a. The principle investigator must be a member of ANNA for the duration of the project.

2. The principle investigator must be currently certified by the Nephrology Nursing Certification Commission (NNCC).

3. Must be currently enrolled in a graduated program on the masters, doctorate, or post doctorate level. Priority will be given to graduate students, however, if funds are available, the award may be granted to ANNA members who currently have a masters degree.

4. The grant applicant(s) who are full members of ANNA must provide evidence of his/her/their experience and credentials demonstrating the ability to complete the proposed project and commitment to nephrology nursing.

5. Applicants have the option of contacting a member of the ANNA Research Committee to discuss ideas and use the assistance of the committee to connect them with appropriate mentors, if needed. Applications submitted early for review will not receive special consideration when reviewed with other applications. All grant applications are treated equally in the review process.

6. The project may be a new endeavor or one already in progress.

7. The applicant must complete the entire grant application form according to the instructions.

8. Other funding sources must be disclosed.

9. A separate proposal submitted under a different principal investigator/project manager or a different project title for the same study will not be eligible to receive a grant through this or any other ANNA sponsored research program.

10. The proposal must demonstrate the following:
a. Significance and applicability of the project to nursing, education, or related therapies
b. For research proposals, sound methodology in accordance with recognized nursing research guidelines
c. For other proposals as outlined previously, sound methodology and implementation strategies depending on the type of project
d. Approval by the appropriate Institutional Review Board
e. Support from the institution where the project will be implemented
f. Feasibility and likelihood of successful completion and support from faculty

11. Members of the ANNA Research Committee may apply for funds through this program. These applications will be reviewed in accordance with the Research Committee conflict of interest policy.

12. The ANNA Board of Directors reserves the right to make the final decision on all grant monies awarded.
