DESCRIPTION

Two awards of $1000 each will be given to fellows who have submitted abstracts chosen by the American Gastroenterological Association to be presented during Digestive Disease Week.

OBJECTIVE

To stimulate interest in GI research careers through competition and recognition.

ELIGIBILITY

* Qualified candidates are MD or PhD postdoctoral fellows who are trainee members of the AGA (please visit www.gastro.org for membership information).
* Applicants must be sponsored by an AGA member.
* Applicants must be the first author of an abstract accepted for presentation at DDW and provide evidence of abstract acceptance. Individuals with faculty appointments are not eligible.
* Applicants may only submit one abstract for consideration.

REQUIREMENTS

* Fellows who have been awarded must present the abstract. No substitute presenters are allowed.
* Abstracts must have been selected by the AGA for presentation at DDW.
* A letter of recommendation from the sponsor is required.
* Applicants must specify what public service he/she has performed to positively impact society or support a social need.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Awardees will be selected based on novelty; significance of the proposal; clarity of the abstract; and contribution of the applicant.

REVIEW PROCESS

A selection committee composed of members of the AGA Research Awards Panel will review the proposals and select the awardees.

Letters of support or commitment sent individually will not be considered. Hard copies are not permitted.

The application deadline date for this award is midnight, March 21. If the deadline occurs on a weekend or holiday, the application packet must be received by midnight the following business day.
