The Christine Mirzayan Science & Technology Policy Graduate Fellowship Program within the Policy and Global Affairs Division of the National Academies is designed to engage graduate science, engineering, medical, veterinary, business, public policy, and law students in the analytical process that informs the creation of national policy-making with a science/technology element. As a result, students develop basic skills essential to working in the world of science policy.

Eligibility: Applications for the fellowships are invited from graduate students through post-doctoral scholars in any physical, biological, or social science field or any field of engineering, medicine/health, or veterinary medicine as well as business, law, education, and other graduate and professional programs.

Graduate students and postdoctoral scholars and those who have completed graduate studies or postdoctoral research within the last 5 years are eligible to apply.

What is the stipend?

Answer: The stipend for a 10-week program is $5,300.

The fellowship stipend is intended to offset living expenses for the period and not intended as a way to earn money.

Note that fellows may at their and their mentor’s option be extended beyond the official session’s term on a case-by-case basis. Fellows may be compensated at the current weekly grant level for the extension period. This decision will not be made until midway through the program. Extensions will not be made past the start date of the next fellowship program session.
