Seymour Diamond Clinical Fellowship in Headache Education

The philosophy of the Seymour Diamond Clinical Fellowship in Headache Education of the National Headache Foundation is to encourage, provide for, and engage physicians towards the clinical management of headache patients. The Fellowship was established to honor Seymour Diamond, M.D., a pioneer in the research and clinical study of patients worldwide with headache. Dr. Diamond is Executive Chairman and founder of the National Headache Foundation and Director of the Diamond Headache Clinic.

This program is an individualized hands-on approach at a headache clinic mutually selected between the committee and the applicant. The objectives are to develop competence in the management of common and complex headache problems, to publish a research paper keyed to the treatment of headache, and to prepare applicant for a career in treating headache patients. A certificate will be awarded upon successful completion of a one-year fellowship.

Grant
The stipend for one year beginning July 1 will be U.S. $40,000.

Eligibility
Applicant will be a graduate of an approved medical school in the United States and be at least post graduate year four. A personal interview may be requested by the committee. Family practitioners, internal medicine specialists and neurologists as well as other specialties are encouraged to apply.

Participating Institution
1. The participating institution will be a specialized facility dedicated primarily to headache management with facility for inpatient and outpatient treatment.
2. Up to 80% of the time will be clinical, 20% study/research.
3. The participating institution shall provide adequate malpractice coverage.
4. A signed contract will be required of the fellow and participating institution.

1. Curriculum Vitae.
2. Statement of experience and training in the practice area of medicine.
3. Three letters of recommendation from qualified department heads/supervisors.
4. An outline of a proposed clinical research project.

Deadline
