Anne C. Carter Student Leadership Award
American Medical Women's Association honors the memory of Anne C. Carter, MD, with an annual $1,500 award for outstanding student leadership. The annual nomination deadline is October 31st.

Criteria
• National AMWA medical student member
• Demonstrated exceptional leadership skills through vision, inspiration, innovation, and coordination of local projects that further the mission of AMWA by improving women's health and/or supporting women in medicine
• Must be nominated by an AMWA student chapter

Anne C. Carter, MD
In honoring the achievements of AMWA’s student members, we remember Dr. Carter’s dedication to the welfare and success of all women medical students. Dr. Carter's life was a celebration of what women can achieve and contribute to others. For many years, Dr. Carter was Trustee of the Financial Aid Fund of AMWA’s New York Branch 14, served as Chair of the Student Loan and Scholarship Committee, and on the AWMA Foundation Board.

Award
Both the individual award recipient and the nominating chapter receive a stipend of $750 (to be used at the chapter's discretion). Awardees will be honored during AMWA's Annual Meeting. The individual award recipient, as well as members of the student chapter, are strongly encouraged to attend the meeting. The chapter stipend may be used to assist in the cost of attendance.

Nomination Process
A representitive from the nominating chapter needs to send an email to the National Student Coordinators: Susie Hagen (shagen@gw.med.sc.edu) and Natalie Gallant (ngallant@usc.edu). Nominations should be limited to approximately 750 words and include the following headings:

1. Name, medical school, year & contact information (address, phone & email) for student nominated
2. Description of the project(s)
3. Description of leadership qualities demonstrated
4. Population impacted by leadership efforts
5. Description of what was accomplished
6. Any additional details deemed relevant
7. Name and address of chapter that will receive the stipend
8. Name, address, phone & email for the nominating chapter contact

Selection Process
AMWA's National Student Coordinators and AMWA's Director of Students will review all nominations in November. The recipient and her chapter will be notified by November 30th.
