International Bone Research Association Grants and Stipends

IBRA is a young non-profit organization, which aspires to support, promote and educate in the field of bone research. But currently, the IBRA Association has only limited funds available, and is thus able to consider only small grant applications.

At present and until further notice to the contrary, the IBRA Association will consider only proposals that focus on the use, application and further development of internal-fixation or prosthetic-replacement devices in hand, maxillofacial and spine surgery.

In the long term future it is planned to establish the following types of Grants and stipends:

A - Small Grant Application (SGA):
These grants are primarily intended for those research proposals submitted by young clinicians who are doing initial clinical research (preliminary studies).
The grants should not exceed the sum of CHF 50'000.--. Annual reports, either intermediate or final, must be provided. The goal of the project is directed towards publication in an international peer-reviewed journal. Clear hypothesis testing is a prerequisite.

B - Research Proposal for Clinical or Laboratory Research (RCL):
These grants will be awarded to researchers or research groups with an established reputation for credibility and thoroughness in the field, as demonstrated by a continuous publication record in peer-reviewed journals. The grant amount may exceed CHF 100'000.--, but should not be higher than CHF 200'000.--. A detailed description of the research plan and the various methods to be used must be provided. Funding from other sources (universities, Associations or third parties) must be disclosed. Results from such granted project proposals are to be published in internationally recognized peer-reviewed journals. Annual reports, either intermediate or final, must be provided.

C - Research Program Projects (RPP):
These grant proposals may contain several single research projects (RCL's) or several single aspects within a major line of research, and are usually granted for several (3 - 5) years. RPP's are awarded only to well-established research teams of international repute. A single annual sum of CHF 200'000.-- should not be exceeded. As with RCL's, the format for such grant applications should follow the guidelines stated in the application form. The proposal must contain the specific aims and delineations of the various single research projects or aspects within the program. Annual reports and a final report must be provided.

Deadline for all Grants:
The deadlines for all grant applications are January 10th and September 1st.
