American Nephrology Nurses' Association Research Sharing Award
Purpose
To award an individual or group who has made a major contribution to the dissemination of research to nurses for use in clinical nephrology nursing practice, education, and/or administration. Dissemination of research findings refers to a systematic effort or project that is directed towards making the essentials of completed research available to nurses in an accessible and usable format. Research-based projects may take various forms such as publications, audio/video tapes, conferences, consultation, or educational programs.

Eligibility Criteria
1. Primary contact person or nominee must be an ANNA member, having been a member for a minimum of the last 2 years as of the awards/scholarship application deadline. 2. Actively involved in nephrology nursing related health care services. 3. Eligible projects must be focused on the development of an evidence-based project for nephrology nursing and relevant to nephrology nursing practice using ANNA's Nephrology Nursing Standards of Practice and Guidelines for Care (2005) as a guide. 4. The primary focus of the submitted project must be sharing findings of research with other nurses. 5. The submission package must demonstrate that the research-based project was: 1. Presented in a form that is useful to nurses in nephrology settings. 2. Made available to nurses in a convenient manner and at a reasonable cost. 3. Packaged in a manner that will attract nurses to use or apply findings in their research, teaching, administration, and/or practice. 4. Based on science using a synthesis of existing research.

* Qualified nurses in resource-constrained countries. * Facilitate a 3 to 5 day teaching and training workshop by an international faculty of up to 3 experts for groups of qualified nurses. * Provide an opportunity for qualified nurses to augment their professional knowledge and to experience cancer nursing skills as practiced in the receiving host organisation.

American Academy of Ambulatory Care Nursing Excellence Award - Administrative
Awards Each recipient will be awarded $500 each which will be presented at the annual conference. The awards are sponsored by Anthony J. Jannetti, Inc., Nursing Economic$ Foundation Criteria The candidate must be: A registered nurse currently providing administrative leadership in an ambulatory setting. Recognized as a positive role model in ambulatory nursing as characterized but not limited to: a. Mentoring peers and colleagues and willingness to share expertise. b. Promoting interdisciplinary collegial working relationships. c. Effectively demonstrates management of rapidly changing situations, and/or clinical nursing practice d. Demonstrating improvement of patient care outcomes with effective implementation into practice e. Being recognized as a nursing expert by nursing colleagues. f. Use of innovative management or patient care techniques. Eligibility The candidate must: Be a member of AAACN in good standing. Not be a current member of the Nominating Committee or the Board of Directors Have at least 3 years experience in ambulatory nursing and be currently practicing in an ambulatory setting.
Procedure: The candidate may be nominated by a colleague or supervisor. Self-applications are encouraged. Nomination submission must include: a. Two letters of recommendation from nursing colleagues addressing the identified criteria (prefer one AAACN colleague) b. Candidate's resume/curriculum vitae, if available. If not, describe the candidate's experience. c. Completed nomination form. Nominations must be received in the National Office by January 15 annually.
Nominations will be reviewed using an objective point system. Selection will be submitted to the Board of Directors for approval. Applicants will be notified prior to the annual conference.

Oncology Nursing Society Clinical Lectureship
Award: A $2,000 honorarium, one coach airfare to ONS Annual Congress, two-day per diem for Congress, and a plaque. The paper is published in the September issue of the Oncology Nursing Forum.Purpose: To recognize and support excellence in clinical nursing practice. Linda Arenth Excellence in Cancer Nursing Management AwardAward: Monetary award of $1000 and a plaque.Purpose: This award is in memory of Linda Arenth, an active ONS and ONCC member who served as the Johns Hopkins Cancer Center's first director of nursing. She started what is now a nationally known system to assign nursing services for different categories of cancer patients. Barry A. Shapiro Memorial Award for Excellence in Critical Care Management
The Barry A. Shapiro Memorial Award for Excellence in Critical Care Management recognizes an individual who has made significant contributions to the design and/or implementation of evidence-based practice which has significantly impacted clinical, operational, or fiscal outcomes within their area of responsibility. The award will be presented annually to a Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) member in good standing. Eligibility Criteria and Submission Requirements The nominee must meet the following criteria: • Be a SCCM member in good standing • Engaged/employed in a clinical environment in a position of leadership as evidenced by leadership roles they have held or currently hold related to the clinical practice of critical care • Submission of a current curriculum vitae • Submission of a nomination letter (self-submission or by SCCM member) • Submission of at least one letter of support Award Amount: • Honorarium of $500.00 • A plaque • Complimentary SCCM Congress registration (not inclusive of pre-courses, tours, etc.) Award Selection and Criteria A subcommittee of the Board of Regents will be established to select the award recipient. The subcommittee reports directly to the SCCM Awards Committee. Candidates must be nominated by an SCCM member in good standing or may self-nominate for the award. The nominee will also be required to obtain and submit a minimum of one letter of support by others involved with the activity(ies) emphasizing how the nominee has demonstrated leadership in support of the award criteria. The selection committee will only consider evidence submitted in writing by the nominator, the nominee, and those submitting supporting letters. The selection committee will not conduct any additional information gathering other than to determine the veracity of the information submitted, should the committee deem this necessary. The selection committee will rank all of the qualifying submissions. The nominee with the highest ranking will be selected for the award. In order that the award be meaningful, the selection committee may determine to not make an award in a given year should it find that no candidate meets minimum criteria. Criteria considered by the selection committee will include: 1) Has the nominee met all of the eligibility criteria noted above? 2) Does the submission demonstrate the nominee made a significant contribution(s) to the design and/or implementation of evidence-based practice? 3) Does the submission demonstrate the nominee has significantly impacted clinical, operational, or fiscal outcomes? 4) Does the submission demonstrate the use of the multiprofessional team in achieving the stated outcomes? 5) Does the submission demonstrate the “Learn It, Deliver It, Measure It, and Improve It” quality improvement paradigm in regular use at the institution? 6) Does the intensive care unit meet the Leapfrog Group’s ICU Physician Staffing standard (IPS)? 7) Is the nominee a Fellow of the American College of Critical Care Medicine (FCCM) in good standing Hospitals fulfilling the IPS Standard will operate adult or pediatric general medical and/or surgical ICUs and neuro ICUs that are managed or co-managed by intensivists who: 1. Are present during daytime hours and provide clinical care exclusively in the ICU and, 2. When not present on site or via telemedicine, returns pages at least 95% of the time, (i) within five minutes and (ii) arranges for a FCCS-certified physician or physician extender to reach ICU patients within five minutes. Norma J. Shoemaker Award for Critical Care Nursing Excellence
The Norma J. Shoemaker Award recognizes an SCCM nurse member who demonstrates excellence in clinical practice, education and/or administration in the field of critical care. The award provides reimbursement of air and hotel expenses for participation at the SCCM Critical Care Congress in an amount not to exceed $1,500.00. Members of the SCCM Norma J. Shoemaker Award Subcommittee and the SCCM Council are not eligible for the award during their tenure. Emergency Nurses Association Foundation/Stryker Industry-Supported Research Grant
The ENA Foundation and Stryker have combined resources to offer this industry-supported research grant. In 2010, the ENA Foundation will award two grants of $5,000 each. This grant provides funding for research that will advance the specialized practice of emergency nursing.The industry-sponsored research funding is available to support Emergency Nursing Research, which is broadly defined as scientific investigation designed to furnish new knowledge relating to emergency nursing care.
