Award Criteria: In addition to the membership qualification, certification in histology is also required. This award will be given annually to a qualified applicant who is pursuing advanced education within the Histotechnology profession, with a specific interest in immunohistochemistry. This award will support educational or professional certification programs that are intended to:
Enhance the immunohistochemistry techniques and methods presently utilized in the nominee’s institution; and/or, Support the study of new IHC techniques under consideration for adoption in the nominee’s laboratory.
The Awards Committee will choose the recipient based on working achievement and/or academic merit. Applicants must submit the following to the Awards Committee: Proof of required certification.
An up-to-date curriculum vitae.
Confidential written evaluation on the applicant/nominee by his/her supervisor and/or pathologist as to applicants suitability as the recipient of this award and educational value to the institution.
Plans for utilization of this scholarship to include identification of an educational event or class and/or correspondence to/from institution or laboratory stating agreement with, purpose of visit and tentative date(s). Plans must be utilized within two (2) years after the scholarship is presented.

Ventana Medical Systems Inc. sponsors this $3000 award on a reimbursement basis. Receipts for all expenses (i.e., books, tuition, registration fees, travel, subscriptions, exams, etc.) must be sent to the NSH office for reimbursement. This award will be presented each year that a nominee/applicant has been selected. The award recipient will be recognized at the awards banquet during the annual NSH Symposium/ Convention.
Award Criteria: At least two members of the laboratory staff must meet the membership qualification. Additionally, certification in histology by at least two members of the laboratory staff is also required. This award will be given annually to a qualified Laboratory that is pursuing advanced education within the histotechnology profession, with a specific focus in immunohistochemistry and/or in situ hybridization. This award will support the laboratory’s educational initiative through the funding of educational seminars, purchase of educational materials, educational or professional certification (HT/HTL/QIHC) programs for the laboratory that are intended to:
Increase the overall knowledge of the laboratory staff in the field of immunohistochemistry and/or in-situ hybridization.
Enhance the immunohistochemistry and/or in situ hybridization techniques and methods presently utilized in the laboratory; and/or support the study of new IHC and/or in-situ hybridization techniques under consideration for adoption in the nominated laboratory.
To accomplish this, the award may be used for the following:
-Attend the NSH Symposium/Convention -Educational seminars or teleconferences for the laboratory -Fees for on-site speakers -Purchase of text or reference books for the laboratory -Subscriptions to scientific journals for the laboratory -Educational materials for the laboratory -Fees for the HT/HTL/QIHC certification exam

Biocare Medical sponsors this award with a $1500 grant. This award will be presented each year that a nominee/applicant has been selected. The award recipient will be recognized at the awards banquet during the annual NSH Symposium/ Convention.
Award Criteria: This award will be presented annually to a histology laboratory that exhibits excellence in patient care. Efficient testing turnaround time, error free reporting, willingness to incorporate new techniques, dedication of laboratory staff and extraordinary levels of laboratory performance are qualities that the recipient of this laboratory award exhibits. At least two members of the laboratory staff must meet NSH membership qualification.
Additionally, HT or HTL certification by at least two members of the laboratory staff is required.
