American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society Resident Scholarship Program

Resident scholarships will be available for 2012 AOFAS Annual Summer Meeting to be held June 20-23, 2012 in San Diego.

The deadline for receipt of applications is March 2, 2012.

The American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society awards scholarships to PGY2 and PGY3 orthopaedic residents with an interest in foot and ankle surgery. This is an opportunity to attend the AOFAS Annual Summer Meeting, learn more about foot and ankle surgery, and network with leading foot and ankle surgeons at the specialty’s annual meeting.

Scholarship Criteria
The applicant:

must be orthopaedic surgery resident in second or third year of training (excluding time spent in research) in a US training program
must demonstrate enthusiasm for and have a sincere interest in foot and ankle surgery
must be in good academic standing
must obtain the recommendation of his/her orthopaedic training program director

Application Process
The applicant:

must complete and submit the AOFAS 2012 Resident Scholarship application by the March 1, 2012 deadline
must include a personal statement (no longer than 500 words) describing the applicant’s interest in foot and ankle, what the applicant hopes to learn from this experience, and how the applicant will share what he/she has learned
must include a curriculum vitae
must obtain the written recommendation of his/her orthopaedic training program director

Resident Scholarship Selection
The resident scholarship recipients are selected by the AOFAS Awards & Scholarships Committee on a competitive basis on assessment of the resident’s application, demonstrated interest in foot and ankle and recommendation of the training program director. All applicants for 2012 scholarships will receive e-mail notification by May 1, 2012.
