General Research Grant Funded by the Van Slyke Foundation General Information The general research grant is for Van Slyke Foundation (VSF) and is targeted to clinical laboratorians who need limited research funds to explore new ideas in areas where funds are not normally available. Applications are due by March 15, for projects starting after June 1 of the same year. How to Apply Complete the Application for AACC Van Slyke Foundation Research Grants. Applications will be evaluated using the following scientific criteria: Originality Scope Scientific significance; Soundness of research plan; Degree of achievability; Potential for the project to lead to further exploration beyond grant period; and Transferability of research findings to actual practice. Administrative criteria used will include: Degree to which the research proposal is critical to the career of the applicant; Degree to which AACC funding is critical to the start of the project; Adequacy of the facility proposed; and Satisfactory budget. Preference for research grants will be given to young investigators.

George Grannis Award for Excellence in Research and Scientific Publication.This award consists of a plaque and a $1000 honorarium. All current and past students in undergraduate, graduate, or postdoctoral clinical chemistry training programs who were enrolled sometime during the three-year period prior to the year of the award will be considered candidates for this award. The student must have published a paper indexed in Index Medicus during this same time period. Names of students from ComACC-accredited programs may be submitted by the program director. Names of students from non-ComACC-accredited programs may be submitted by their mentors. The NACB Awards Committee will select the awardee based on the most outstanding published scientific paper.

Outstanding Contributions in Education The award consists of a plaque and a $5,000 cash award. This award recognizes an individual who has devoted a major portion of his/her professional life to enhancing the practice and profession of clinical chemistry through education. The educator selected for this award has made significant, innovative, and/or cumulatively outstanding contributions to education in clinical laboratory science. These contributions should include excellence in education beyond the local level, with widespread recognition of the recipient's excellence which may include teaching, directing, mentoring, writing, and speaking abilities, ideally to multiple levels of audiences. International Travel Fellowship The award consists of a plaque and a $5,000 cash travel award. This award provides a well-recognized, widely experienced clinical chemist with the opportunity to promote the profession of clinical chemistry internationally or to raise the quality of clinical chemistry as it is practiced there. The recipient of this award is expected to travel to specific countries outside his or her own to teach, lecture, consult, or provide other assistance to hospitals, laboratories, universities, or other health organizations. AACC Lectureship Award The award consists of a plaque and a $10,000 cash award.
